AG’s Tips for Maximizing Coziness

Looking to make your home as cozy as possible? Here are a few tips to help.

First things first - you’ll want to start with your entrance.

Your entrance is the first thing that welcomes your guests. You’ll want to spend a little extra time

giving your entrance that first cozy feel as a guest walks into your home.

Draw your guests in - Get yourself some cozy blankets and comfy pillows.

Find some nice, quality throw blankets that coordinate with your living area and bedrooms. A

cozy throw blanket on the couch encourages guests to make themselves right at home. Keeping a

throw on your bed can give it a decorative touch. Displaying blankets in woven baskets or on

blanket ladders can be inviting as well. Not only do they give off a warm feel, they are also a fun

way to decorate and fill in empty spaces. Pillows can be a great accent to a living area. Investing

in ones that are comfortable and stylish takes it to a whole new level.

There’s nothing more uncomfortable than sitting on a stiff couch.

Nothing says, “Welcome!” quite like a nice, comfortable couch. The couch is the staple of a

living space, so choosing the right one will heighten the room.

Talent is a flame - accentuate the fireplace!

If your house has a fireplace, highlight it by decorating the mantle area with things like vases,

candles or other decorative pieces. Also, putting one big focal piece, such as a mirror or painting,

in the area above the fireplace will help pull the room together.

Can’t stop, won’t stop buying plants - Fresh flowers and fresh plants

Fresh flowers or plants make a great addition to the kitchen and/or bathroom! Don’t really have a

green thumb(like me)? Succulents make that perfect green pop without needing that green

thumb!

Make your own sunshine!

The right lighting can work wonders. This invites your guests inside and highlights your home’s

interior features. When you are having a small get-together with close friends, dimmed lighting

can create a cozy atmosphere.

Fill your home with the colors you love.

Light, vibrant paint colors can make any room look bright, warm and inviting. Dark colors tend

to make rooms look smaller and don’t always have much of “homey” appeal.

Curb appeal and outdoor hangout space

Go green - one of the most effective ways to create curb appeal. Make your door pop and add

some front door decor. Create a living space outdoors! Add some comfy chairs, a table and a nice

fire pit!

Mirror, mirror on the wall..or dresser...or table...

Placing a cool mirror above a dresser or table can give a room personality and reflect (no pun

intended) your style. Mirrors also give the illusion that a room is much larger than it really might

be.

A pretty rug makes a proud host.

If your living area has hardwood floors, a large area rug will instantly warm up the space. People

sometimes like to make the area rug a focal point and choose their accessories, pillows, and paint

color based on the color and/or pattern of the rug.

These are some of my favorite tips that are sure to help make your home as cozy and inviting as

can be.
